The Palette Pulse: January Art Vibes
Hello Everyone,
Let me start with a random question. Who here still doubles spaces after a period when they're typing? I do. I'm trying to kick the habit, but I can see my 8th-grade typing teacher in my mind, and I'm afraid to single space.
2025 has proven to be a great year, and it is only January 16. Here is what I have going on the art front.
Hardwood Art Center
Harwood Art Center of Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosts Artist Trading Cards annually celebrating connection and creativity, bridging artists across place and practice. Participating artists will receive 10 blank cards to create mini artworks in their unique vision. The artworks are mailed back to Harwood, who shuffles and distributes them to the participating artists. At the end of the program, participants end up with a mini collection of paintings from 10 unique artists! Artists of all experiences, ages, and identities are encouraged to participate in Artist Trading Cards. I have my 10 cards and I’m ready to collage, paint, etc. Let’s Go!
Upcoming Exhibit
I am working on a " Beginning " series for a show at the Fourteenfifteen Art Gallery in Albuquerque. They’ve challenged artists to create a piece of art every day for January. Here’s a sneak peek of what I’m doing so far.
Fun-A-Day Exhibit Details:
Opening Reception: Friday, Feb 7, 6 pm - 9 pm
Closing Reception: Friday, Mar 7, 6 pm - 9 pm
The Fourteenfifteen Art Gallery is still closed due to fire damage, and they don’t know yet when their space will be restored. Homewise has offered us an alternative space for the time being on the second floor of their building at 4th and Barelas.
Art-o-mat®
My 5th Art-o-mat set has arrived, and I’ll start the fun process of creating for the. Art-o-mat® machines across the country. In case you’re new here, I’m an Art-o-mat® artist. Here’s a video of the process:

La Fonda Residency
I’m incredibly excited to have been offered a weekend residency at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe in July. Look for more about this adventure in a subsequent newsletter.
The Future is EXCITING!
I visited the 8th House in Albuquerque, where I’ll be the featured artist in September. It’s a fabulous antique store, and I can’t wait! Their Instagram page has a plethora of gems. Check it out: https://www.instagram.com/t8habq
Chicky’s Coffee in Bernalillo is still the place for coffee and friendly faces. Everywhere you look at Chicky’s, there is art, a feast for the eyes. Rick and I are there every Monday morning. We start our week with coffee and pastries and check in with Shari running the shop or Deanza behind the counter. Stop by or order online HERE.
Dulce River Bakery -Please visit Dulce River Bakery (4405 Jager Dr. NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144). It’s a fantastic stop for coffee and a sweet baked item while looking at me and my friend’s art.
Thank you for attending my shows, subscribing to and reading my newsletter, and/or following me on Instagram or Facebook. I appreciate you!
Cheers,
