The Palette Pulse: September Art Vibes
Oh, how I love September in New Mexico! The temperatures are pleasantly warm in the daytime and so cool in the evenings. It’s one of my favorite times of the year.
The not-so-great art news: I didn’t receive the artist residency I hoped for, and that’s okay. Their selection always goes to the best fit for the spot.
I have an artist reception at the New Mexico Art League from 4-6 PM on Saturday, September 14, for the show “Outside of the Box.” at the New Mexico Art League located at 3409 Juan Tabo Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM. If you can’t make it to the reception, you can still see the show, as it doesn't end until September 28th. The Opening Artist Reception for the “Vibrant” show at Art Moziak in Santa Fe was well attended and exciting. The show will run until September 30. Please stop by Canyon Road and see the show or any of the other galleries.

There is also a show celebrating art that other artists calls have rejected. It’s called, appropriately,“Rejects,” a Special Show at Remarque's Tortuga Gallery, and one of my pieces (rejected by other shows) has been chosen for this show. Remarque Print Shop is sponsoring the show. Torguero Gallery is located at 901 Edith Blv. SE, Albuquerque, NM. Here’s a blurb from their website describing the show:
“As artists, we are rejected all the time. We submit our best work to a show or call for entry, only to have it summarily dismissed. So, here is a call for entry for your favorite REJECTED piece of art- the one you can’t believe anyone would reject!”
The show will open on Friday, September 20th, with a festive reception from 5 to 8 p.m. It will be open to the public on Saturday, September 21, Friday and Saturday, 27 and 28, and Saturday, October 5, from 12 to 4 p.m.
I’ve applied to two more shows and look forward to hearing from both galleries.
