The Palette Pulse: October Art Vibes

When you thought New Mexico couldn’t be more magical, October happens. The mornings are cool, and the skies are filled with hot air balloons. The days are warm and calling you to hike, watch a high school soccer game, or read a book to your grandbaby on a lawn chair in the backyard. The evenings cool down a bit, and the sunsets - yes, people stay for the sunsets.

Artistically speaking (I know it's not the best segue, but I’m still figuring out this writing thing), I’ve got some news, but before that, a big shoutout to everyone who came out to the New Mexico Art League show in Albuquerque. The Rejects Show opening at Tortuga Gallery was a blast, and I appreciate all the friends and family who showed up for that, too!

Upcoming Shows:

Two mixed media pieces were accepted into a juried New Mexico Art League show. The show, “Small Works,” is a festive and fun annual exhibit of works by New Mexico artists of all subject matter and mediums, all in an excellent small package. Perfect for gift-giving for the holidays! The show's opening will be on December 5 and run until January 11, 2025. The opening reception will be held on December 14 from 4 - 6 PM. The exhibition is open to the public, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM. The New Mexico Art League Gallery is at 3409 Juan Tabo Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Another piece was accepted into a juried show titled R3SI$TI at Old Walls Gallery in Albuquerque, 820 Kent Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM. The exhibition addresses the themes of protest, justice, hope, and visions of a new world. The show opens on November 1 and runs until December 27.

The New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts threw a lovely celebration to recognize its awesome volunteers (yep, I’m one of them) at Vivo Contemporary in Santa Fe, NM. It was a great gathering of fantastic women who all share a passion for supporting New Mexico women in the arts.

My yearly calendar is dropping soon! I’m only making 40 of them this year, so they’re gonna be super popular and go fast. I’ll share more details soon, or you can check out my website in a few weeks to see them!

Thank you for attending my shows, subscribing to my newsletter, reading my newsletter, and/or following me on Instagram or Facebook. I appreciate you!

Cheers,

Leslie Pino Durant
