The Palette Pulse: May Art Vibes

Hello, My People,

Spring came, went, and returned, and now we’re in this weird space of wind and almost rain. Mother Nature is finicky.

I skipped my April newsletter, not on purpose, just forgot - too many great life things happened.

Here’s a snapshot of April:

  • I celebrated my last birthday in my 50s on the 21st. I have no idea what grand things I’m supposed to do in my late 50s—if you have any clues, you have less than 365 days to fill me in. Until then, I’ll do my best to create and enjoy my family and friends.

  • Grandbaby number 3 was born on April 23. His name is Bennett, and he is adorable!

  • 24th Walk MS (Did you know I have multiple sclerosis? More about that at another time).

  • The Art Mozaik show was fantastic, as usual. The art scene on Canyon Road in Santa Fe is like no other. You can easily spend a day or two just walking that one street.

  • The opening of Fun-A-Day’s Show at 1415 Art Gallery was so grand! It was well attended, and Rick and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with the fun treats, visiting with artists, and seeing all the unique projects they created. Wow!

Upcoming Artsy Stuff:

Fourteenfifteen Art Gallery

“Beginning” is my series that is being shown at the Fourteenfifteen Art Gallery in Albuquerque for a show titled Fun-A-Day. This show challenged artists to create one piece of art daily throughout January.  The gallery was closed due to a fire, so the show was postponed. Another space for the show was acquired, and the show has been running since April 4.

Closing Reception: Friday, May 2, 6 - 9 pm Temporary Headquarters: 1411 4th St. SW, ABQ, Suites 218 and 219

Little House Auction 2025

Every year, dozens of artists create fantastic mini-masterpieces for OffCenter Arts to auction at their annual Little House Auction! The auction showcases the diverse creativity of Albuquerque’s many artists and raises essential funds for OffCenter’s free programs.

Rick and I finished our houses and delivered them to Fusion. Auction Details: Friday, May 9, 5-8 pm: FUSION, 708 1st Street SW, ABQ

La Fonda Residency

I’m incredibly excited to have been offered a weekend residency at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe in July. A subsequent newsletter will include more about this adventure.

Another Exceptional Women’s Art Show:

Expect the Unexpected

Six of my art friends- Rosario Glezmir, Amanda Lawson, Vivienne Riggio, Susan Roden, Yolanda Howren Jones, and Lori Colt- and I pitched a show to one of our favorite Albuquerque galleries, and they accepted. Therefore, in August, we will showcase our art in a group exhibit at Old Walls Gallery in Albuquerque, NM.

Show Dates: August 1 - August 29

Opening Reception: Friday, August 1, from 5 to 8 PM

Exhibit Dates and Hours: August 2, 9, 16, and 23, from 10 AM to noon or by appointment by contacting the gallery at 505-508-5710.

The 8th House

I am excitedly spending a significant amount of time preparing for my month as the featured artist at The 8th House, an antique and vintage shop near Nob Hill in Albuquerque. My original art, prints, cards, and stickers will be available in the shop from September 1 to September 30. Stay tuned!

 Check them out on Instagram..

Dulce River Bakery, 4405 Jager Dr. NE, Rio Rancho, NM, is the perfect spot to indulge in a delightful coffee and a delicious treat while soaking in my artwork and the amazing pieces created by my friends.

Chicky’s Coffee, 240 South Camino Del Pueblo, Suite A, Bernalillo, NM, is the go-to place for delicious coffee and friendly faces. Art decorates every corner of Chicky’s, creating a visual feast for the eyes. Every Monday morning, Rick and I visit to kick off our week with coffee and pastries, catching up with Shari, who runs the shop, or Deanza, who works behind the counter. Stop by or order online HERE.

I am entering art shows at 3017 Gallery, Placitas Library, and New Mexico Art League. Wish me luck! Until then, I’m be occupied creating for July at the La Fonda Hotel, August at Old Walls Gallery, and September at The 8th House. Exciting, incredible art is coming!

My webpage is under new management. It’s not really; I just wanted to appear more professional. I am changing it up a bit. If you’re getting an error message, try again soon.

Thank you for attending my exhibits, subscribing to and reading my newsletter, and following me on Instagram and/or Facebook. I truly appreciate you!

Cheers,

Leslie Pino Durant
