Sharing….an introvert artist
I struggle sharing my art. It doesn’t come easy and I’ve figured out that I lean more toward an introverted personality. I can sit for hours thinking about creating: sketching, composition, mixing colors, collaging, etc. When it comes to putting it out into the world, I tense up and freeze.
What I’ve learned is the more I practice the better I get - not only about my mixed media, but about letting others see the finished pieces. I can now display on Instagram and Facebook with ease. I’ve, once again, created a wall calendar and I’ve sold and sent off two shipments. The risk level of those types of presenting to others is low, I know, but it’s something.
My Uncle Joe came up to me last month and asked my why I’m not exhibiting my art anywhere. I told him that I would look into it. That is what I tell most people, but my Uncle Joe is not most people. So, on December 9, I will be going waaaaaay out of my comfort zone and exhibit some original pieces at my first gallery show. It’s a small gallery in my home town of Belen, NM. I’ve got to start somewhere, right, and this space in Belen is the perfect spot.
It’ll be held at the Hub City Art Collective (210 Becker Avenue, Belen) during their Community Gallery Night on December 9 from 5-8 PM. There will be art (of course), music, food, and drinks. My pieces will be for sale and will be on display for the entire month of December and January. Please stop by to say hello. Seeing you will ease my anxiety.
Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful November!
Cheers,
Leslie
(By the way, the next shipment of my 2023 art calendar goes out mid November. Please email, message me on IG or FB to get one of your own).
