End of October Happenings

Hey Everyone,

Writing this on a cozy Halloween evening, I find myself reminiscing about the times I worried about buying candy, coming up with fun kid costumes, and making hearty treats for those little visitors at our door. Now, in my current neighborhood, trick-or-treaters are few and far between, which gives me a lovely break to focus more on some art business.

November is shaping up to be a quieter month for art shows, but it's also a special time to travel and reconnect—visiting family, welcoming friends for Thanksgiving, sharing delicious food, and enjoying heartfelt conversations.

I understand that many individuals and families are feeling uncertain and overwhelmed when it comes to accessing food and resources across the country. If you or someone you care about could use some support, a quick online search for “Give 10-15 sites that are excellent local food resources in (your location) that help people experiencing food insecurity” might provide some much-needed assistance. Please feel free to share your findings to lend a hand.

Here’s one of my recent works called “Big Dreams.” What I like to do is blur my vision and stare at the collage material I’ve laid on the paper or canvas until I see an image or images. Then I block out those images and outline them. This time, I saw flowers, birds on heads, and kept the statement, “Big Dreams.” I hope you like it. I’m not sure where it will end up—whether in a show, with a collector, or at one of the shops that are kind enough to let me display it on their walls.

Speaking of shops where my art hangs, check out my words about Dulce River Bakery and Chicky’s Coffee below.

Dulce River Bakery - Discover the vibrant mixed media artworks of me and Yolanda Howren Jones proudly displayed on the walls of Dulce River Bakery. Located at 4405 Jager Drive NE, Rio Rancho, this charming bakery offers a perfect blend of visual and culinary delights. While savoring freshly baked goods and rich coffee, visitors can immerse themselves in bold, colorful art celebrating strong women, lush floral arrangements, and captivating wildlife. It’s a unique experience where creativity and comfort come together in one welcoming space.

Tell them the artists sent you!

Chicky’s Coffee - The best holiday gift, in my caffeinated opinion, is coffee—specifically, Chicky’s Coffee at 240 South Camino Del Pueblo, Suite A, Bernalillo, NM. Please visit Shari, Deanza, and Scott for some delicious coffee (Guatemala Blend is my favorite), pastries, and stunning art. Truly, art decorates every corner of Chicky’s, creating a visual feast for the eyes. Tell them Leslie and Rick sent you! Stop by or order online HERE.

Patrician Design - I appreciate everyone who has stopped by to see my art. Thank you! The holiday season is coming soon, and there are many treasures perfect for gifts for yourself or others. Patrician Design, located at 216 Gold Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM, is a boutique gallery showcasing fine art, handcrafted jewelry, pottery, wearable art, and treasures by talented New Mexican artists.

Harwood Art Center - 12 x 12: I’m excited to be invited to participate in this event. Harwood Art Center brings together artists from its creative community to contribute works for 12×12, their annual fundraising exhibition and one of Albuquerque’s most anticipated art events. 12×12 artworks are sold for a flat rate of $144, with each artist remaining anonymous until their piece is sold. Please join us online at Harwood Art Center on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 6:00 pm. when the art becomes available. Maybe you can spot my creation. Your purchase supports Harwood’s community arts education, outreach, and professional development programs—diverse, hands-on offerings created for participants of all ages, backgrounds, and perspectives.

As always, thank you for attending my exhibits, subscribing to and reading my newsletter, and following me on Instagram and/or Facebook. I truly appreciate your support!
