The Palette Pulse: July Art Vibes

On Sunday, I experienced a panic attack. My mind became overwhelmed with thoughts, leading to a chain reaction of other thoughts/worries. Before I realized it, my chest tightened, and I felt paralyzed. Seeking solace, I visited one of my safe spaces, Chicky’s Coffee. There, I sat and engaged in activities that helped me unclog my mind. I wrote lists, practiced deep breathing exercises, and returned home feeling less stressed and more prepared to start the day.

Another safe space for me is my art studio. It’s where I can be my authentic self without external influences. Creating art has a remarkable ability to minimize my stress levels. It allows me to express myself in challenging or impossible ways in other aspects of my life.

Below, I’ll share some of my creative endeavors and the opportunities I’ve had to showcase my work.

The 8th House - Another exciting art item on my agenda is my residency in September at The 8th House, an antique and vintage shop near Nob Hill in Albuquerque. From September 1 to September 30, my original artwork, prints, cards, and stickers will be available in the shop. Stay tuned for updates! Be sure to check them out on Instagram HERE! Or better yet, visit them in person! Julian, the owner, would LOVE to show you around.

Bold and Bright - If you can attend a show at 3017 Gallery in Albuquerque, jump on it. It’s always such a fun, comfortable, inviting space. The people attending are friendly, complimentary, and excited to be there. In the middle of the gallery room, there is always a big table filled with art supplies for any artist or art lover to play. There are snacks, vendors, music, and lots of love put into a show, and I love it there! Who doesn’t love an art gallery in the basement of an art supplies store, right?

Las Damas - Inside the Studios - When I arrived at this show, my friend Vivienne was the first person I saw. If you know her, you know she has a friendly smile and a warm personality. I immediately felt safe. Then I saw all the art and the women who created it, and I was so happy to be a part of it.

Chicky’s Coffee, located at 240 South Camino Del Pueblo, Suite A, Bernalillo, NM, is the go-to spot for delicious coffee and friendly faces. Art decorates every corner of Chicky’s, creating a visual feast for the eyes. Every Monday morning, Rick and I visit to kick off our week with coffee and pastries, catching up with Shari, who runs the shop, or Dianza, who works behind the counter. Stop by or order online HERE.

Check out one of my favorite persons wearing art she purchased from my store. Isn’t she lovely? Thank you, Geri Lynn!

If you’d like to order my art prints, t-shirts, hats, aprons, and more, please visit my Redbubble Shop here, my TeePublic Shop here, or my Threadless Shop here.

Thank you for attending my exhibits, subscribing to and reading my newsletter, and following me on Instagram and/or Facebook. I truly appreciate you! Here’s to all of us finding safe spaces to be ourselves and declog our brains.

Cheers,

Leslie
